Hi, I’m Melissa, mother of three, wife and autoimmune warrior. I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in Washington state, about an hour north of Seattle. My family and I live in a house that sits on almost a half-acre of land to which we have a large garden, chickens, a dog, small sheep, and miniature dairy goats. I have a few autoimmune diseases and a rare auto-inflammatory disease. I am currently in remission with the help of diet, lifestyle and medication. Yay! I strongly believe that eating a low carb paleo style diet was a big contributing factor in getting me into remission.
I’m a big believer in food as medicine, and passionate about all things that have to do with healing the body such as mindset, herbs, supplements, and the mind-body connection. I love sharing all the things I’ve learned and am still learning on my path to improved health.
I have been gardening and had egg-laying hens for over 14 years. A few years ago we added dairy goats and Soay Sheep to our urban farm. I love growing my own food and having the ability to go out to the chicken coop and grab some eggs or get some raw milk from the goats.
I also enjoy foraging for wild edibles, preserving food, fermenting, and learning about permaculture and nature. My goal is to continue to learn and become more self-reliant and my hope is to inspire others to invest in their health and gain knowledge and confidence. The earth is huge and there is so much to learn. There are many paths to healing thyself. On this blog, I like to write about homesteading/urban farm life, herbal medicine, mind-body health, and arts and crafts. Hope you stick around for the ride!

Why the name Renaissance Path?
I chose the name Renaissance Path because Renaissance has many meanings. It can mean a rebirth, an awakening, re-emergence, or a new beginning. When I think about a renaissance lady and how they are described as a lady with many interests and areas of knowledge that name really resonated with me. I wanted to start a blog and share all the things I learned on my path to healing.
Glad you are here!
Much Love,
Melissa
